1983 Diamond Back Ridge Runner II

Diamond Back Ridge Runner II

The Diamond Back Ridge Runner II was the replacement to the original Diamond Back Ridge Runner manufactured by Centurion in Taiwan.

It may look very similar to the original, but the differences were many.

The Ridge Runner II was manufactured in 1983/84 and was a non lugged Cr-Mo 4130 steel frame.

The geometry of the frame had an extra long rear triangle which made it very stable on the trail. It had all the braze on mounts for touring racks, fenders, and 2 water bottle cages.

It was released in two-toned combination silver with black trim.

The chrome diamond shaped handle bars, which are unique to Diamond Backs, are similar to the original Ridge Runner's, except they no longer have an attached brake cable stay.

The front and rear dropouts are generic.

The most noticeable difference between the Ridge Runner and the Ridge Runner II is the missing lug work on the frame. Also, the forks are different than the original Ridge Runner and they look identical to what was used on the Specialized Stumpjumper.
